Hotels Oradea

Despite the fact that Oradea is one of Transylvania's largest and most important cities, it is often overlooked by tourists, in favor of other cities such as Brasov, Sighisoara or Cluj-Napoca - a shame, given that the city has so much to offer.

First of all, Oradea is a historical Romanian destination, its existence being dated by historians and archaeological findings to ancient times.

It is also one of Romania's main education centers, being home to the University of Oradea, one of the largest and most modernized universities in the country.

Among Oradea's most important landmarks there is Bishop's Palace (Palatul Episcopal), one of the city's most splendid edifices, The Roman Catholic Cathedral (Catedrala Romano-Catolica), dating since 1752, The Black Eagle Palace (Palatul Vulturul Negru), in Unirii Square, built between 1907 and 1909 by Hungarian architects Marcell Komor and DezsoJakab, the late Baroque Church of the Moon (Biserica cu Luna), completed in 1790, the spectacular Oradea Fortress (Cetatea Oradea), one of the city's most imposing sight, plus many other.

In addition to the attractions found within the city, there are also tons of other pleasant "surprises", in the nearby vecinity, such as Baile Felix, about 5 miles south of the city, currently Romania’s largest health resort, open year-round, or the stunning Apuseni Mountains, about 64 miles southwest of Oradea, home to Apuseni Nature Park, which protects one of the most interesting cave systems in the country. Arad and Cluj Napoca, boasting dozens of other appealing attractions, are also close-by - 76 and 90 miles southwest of the city.
